You might be more familiar with Frenchman Guillaume Canet's work as an actor (does "the other hunky dude in The Beach" ring any bells?), but he's also directed a handful of reasonably decent movies: Whatever You Say, Tell No One, Little White Lies. His latest directorial effort, Blood Ties, looks..... pas mal.
Teaming up with critically acclaimed director James Gray (who co-wrote the screenplay) and starring – take a deep breath – Clive Owen, Marion Cotillard, Billy Crudup, Zoe Saldana, Matthias Schoenaerts, Mila Kunis, James Caan and Noah Emmerich, Canet's film is a '70s-set crime drama that follows "two brothers, on either side of the law, who face-off over organized crime in Brooklyn," according to IMDb.
Currently showing out of competition at Cannes, we should know more about the film and its release date soon. In the meantime, let us know what you make of the trailer? Surely, if nothing else, Cotillard will mesmerise as usual?
Lovebirds: Canet and Cotillard on set.
