Hitchcock’s 'Rebecca' To Be Remade By 'A Royal Affair' Director

So, after the abysmal flop of a film (or was it a TV movie?) that was Hitchcock, we're trying our best to remain optimistic about future Hitchcock-inspired projects. Such as this latest one.

Oscar-nominated Danish filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) has officially signed on to the remake of the classic Hitchcock, Rebecca, based on the Daphne Du Maurier novel of the same name. And while he wouldn't be our first choice to direct the film, he's certainly deft enough to have a crack at it. In other words, there are far worse filmmakers that could've grabbed a hold of this one, so think yourself lucky.

But what really interests us is this: Who the hell is going to fill the shoes of Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier?!

The original trailer for 'Rebecca' (1940).

The director of 'A Royal Affair', Nikolaj Arcel.
