'Martha Marcy' Director To Make Exorcist TV Series

Following the success of his last film, Martha Marcy May Marlene, which featured a phenomenal performance from Elizabeth Olsen, director Sean Durkin is venturing into the world of that well-respected medium. Television.

The filmmaker (soon-to-be TV series-maker) is currently at work on a 10-episode version of The Exorcist, based on the 1971 novel that director William Friedkin famously adapted in the ‘70s. But with Durkin in the director’s chair, we can be sure to expect something much more understated and atmospheric – so no florescent green vomit, then.

With Martha still very much at the top of critics’ minds, and a strong contender for a place in the “top 10 films of 2012” lists, anything the director touches is likely to gain attention. He’s certainly got our ears perked up.
