Spike Jonze Film Could Star Rooney Mara

Spike Jonze, the director who gave us films such as Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and Where the Wild Things Are, has a new one in the works that Variety says will more than likely star Rooney Mara of The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo (remake) fame.

Mara’s part in the as yet untitled project was originally going to be played by British actress Carey Mulligan, but due to the Drive star’s busy shooting schedules, she’s had to bow out. The film will also star Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Samantha Morton.

Following Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are (2009), the film is reported to be about “a man who falls in love with the voice of a computer.” Knowing the director’s work, it sounds like it could be his most ingenious, surreal film yet. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait too long.
