Thinking about chilling at home on the sofa this month? Think again - we’ve put together some of the most exciting art, music and design events happening across the world throughout October.
Frieze Art Fair, London – October 6 – 9
Known worldwide as one of the world’s most important and famous contemporary art fairs, Frieze gives visitors the chance to see and buy work from over 1,000 of the world’s leading artists. The main events take place in London’s iconic Regent’s Park – which will include curated galleries focusing on young artists, interactive performance art and art from the 90s, as well as the impressive Frieze Sculpture Park - but there are plenty of exhibitions and events happening across the city to coincide with the fair.
London Film Festival (BFI) – October 5 – 16
Arguably one of the biggest, best and most glamorous film festivals in the world, London Film Festival is a must for any serious move fan. Centering around London’s Leicester Square but also filling cinemas across the capital, the festival screens everything from swanky, star-studded red carpet premieres of major Hollywood movies to the very best in world cinema. Don’t worry if you can’t make it though; we’ll be featuring reviews of our favourite films of the festival throughout October.
FIAC / Officelle, Paris – October 20 -23
If Frieze week gets the whole of London excited about art, FIAC and Officielle will undoubtedly do the same for Paris. The contemporary art fair lasts 3 days and the main event, set in the historic Grand Palais, will feature work from over 180 galleries from around the world. The buzz isn’t limited to the Grand Palais though; Paris will play host to countless art events across the city for the duration of the fair, ranging from outdoor work to more traditional gallery exhibitions.
Pitchfork Music Festival, Paris –October 27 – 29
It seems like the people of Paris are spoilt for choice this month, as October also sees the arrival of the annual Pitchfork Paris music festival. The festival takes place in the gorgeous Grande Halle de la Villette, and the line-up is as impressive as you’d imagine; after all, it is curated by one of the world’s most progressive and well known music tastemaker websites. You can expect to see the likes of M.I.A, Bat for Lashes, Todd Terje and Chet Faker at the main event, as well as a host of exciting lesser-known acts at the festival’s little brother, Pitchfork Avant-Garde.
ARTBO, Bogotá – October 27 - 30
ARTBO sees exhibitions and art fairs taking place across the city of Bogotá, Colombia in a week dedicated to art and creativity. The main event will feature work from 57 galleries coming together from cities all over the world, but the true highlights are the smaller events that take place alongside the festival – events like the ones that we were proudly involved with last year.
